A Friday Reflection

I am currently doing work for a large health organization.  Before each meeting they ask that the meeting leader recite a “reflection.”  This is not necessarily a prayer mind you, but something motivational or thought provoking.  Most of the meetings I’ve been to start with quotes from Steve Jobs, or Bill Gates.  Which makes sense since it’s the technology of the business on which we focus.  Still, I felt as if I were cheating if I didn’t write my own.  So…with no further ado, I will give you what I wrote in my head while lying in bed at exactly 3:15 a.m. this morning for today’s reflection:

“As we begin our journey it is important to remember that what will make us successful is not our similarities, but our differences.  It is only through this diversity in knowledge and expertise that we will be victorious.  I challenge any of you to make a piece of cloth with a single thread, of a single length, running a single direction.  It is only by having many threads, of many lengths, running many directions for a common purpose that you end with something functional.  Add to those threads a little color, and you can truly make something beautiful.”

Happy Friday!

Rex
